Reviews
They make a good latte and the pastries are fantastic. The loaves of bread are also excellent. A wonderful place to have breakfast and coffee. Very much recommended, thank you.
First trip: Great buttery croissants, semi-sweet choc cookie, and espressos. Stars aligned for croissants this day, the BEST I've had by far!!! Fantastic Kouign Amann.
Second trip 08/23: Disappointing. Over proofed croissants but I bought 2 anyway... Yuuup, I shouldn't have, but I did... Flavor, texture, visually, POOR, POOR!... Almond croissant was good and so was the kouign amann!
I've had the pleasure of having the best croissant here, EVER, and the worst. A plus is the staff here are VERY pleasant, super nice!
*Added: I asked someone behind the counter if they recommend any specific reheating instructions for the buttery croissants, she said "just warm them up in the microwave, that's all we do" 😆 No.
Cafe Ficelle is a charming little spot that offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere for a leisurely breakfast or brunch.
First, let's talk about the avocado toast. Avocado toast has become a staple in many cafes, and Cafe Ficelle certainly lives up to the expectations. The toast was likely made with high-quality bread, toasted to perfection, and topped with ripe avocado.
Quick food but high quality ingredients! Yummy coffee as well.
Good coffee, and enjoy the fresh bread and pastry options. Staff could improve a little with service. 3 stars off for being overpriced for bakery and drinks, rude staff on many occasions. $7.00 for the tiniest cappuccino with oat milk is crazy.
As mentioned in reviews, the quality of their bakery items is not as good as it used to be.
I decided to give this place another shot and took the kids this morning hoping to have a nice breakfast. Sadly, my experience was even worse than last time. The food was cold, over-priced, and no one was cleaning up the tables so finding a place to sit was a drag. (All that after $100 and an 18% tip). I asked my stepdaughter how her croissant egg sandwich was and she said "it would be better if it was warm." I tried it and it was so cold! I went up to the counter and asked if it could be reheated. I waited like 15 min for them to heat it up, and by the time I got back to our table, my food was completely cold and gross. I let a waitress know of our experience and asked her to just relay the message to a manager. Another waitress or possibly the manager came as we were leaving and asked how everything was. I told her about our experience and she really didn't seem to care. I don't see myself ever coming back and frankly, don't understand why so many people do. This place is so overrated and mediocre. The coffee isn't the greatest, the pastries are just ok, and the service is awful. (I ordered avocado toast and the Croque Monsieur. Bread was stale and the rest was underwhelming).
Oh boy, this place is definitely making it harder for me to lose those extra pounds. Fantastic pasties and bread. Great coffee and friendly staff. Their meals are also hardy and full of flavor. My only issue with this place is all the broken plates and chipped mugs. Every time I go there (which is often) I always get something broken. For as much as you spend, this place should be mindful of what they are sending out. Especially since this place seems to pride itself on quality. There's nothing that ruins a presentation of beautiful food than a cracked or chipped dish. It's all part of the experience. Other than that, this place is consistent with their food. The pictures are from the last two weeks of visiting.
The quality of the bakery items wasn't as good as expected. I wouldn't recommend the butter croissant, it was extremely greasy and lacked flavor/quality. The breakfast/brunch items looked good though and I would go back to try them, but not the boulangerie/pâtisserie. Items also felt very high in price. Crossiant was $5.20 and small drinks were $6. Not worth the price for the quality. The service and atmosphere was amazing though!
